Conventional (air) heating systems allow distributed heat to collect in areas where it is more likely to escape, for example along ceilings and walls, so that achieving a comfortable temperature can be difficult. Depending on which areas of the room are heated and the air that’s being heated (determined by factors including the fabric of the building), space heating can prove inefficient and costly. The effectiveness of space heating through split units or fan coils (air conditioning) is influenced by the size of the room and the number of units installed. Indeed, radiant heat feels more natural as it’s more like the sun’s rays. It’s more efficient to heat the human directly by radiant heating.
To keep occupants comfortable, it isn’t necessary to heat great volumes of air around them, and it can be wasteful of energy to do so. The SolaRay panels are safely on the ceiling, radiating sun-like warmth and providing healthy, silent, and comfortable heating for the children and the therapists, while using 35% less energy than standard wall heaters and 50% less than baseboard heaters.Again, not true.
These efficient radiant heat panels will save Jumping Mouse over $400 a year in heating costs and $14,000 over the lifetime of the facility. Ducoterra’s radiant heat panels were a perfect fit, combining safe, clean heat while maximizing energy efficiency and their bottom-line.ĭucoterra supplied ten of its 750 watt SolaRay infrared heating panels to heat the new facility. Being a non-profit organization, Jumping Mouse needed a heating solution that was both safe and economical as every dollar is limited. Founded in 1999, Jumping Mouse Children’s Center located in Port Townsend, Washington transforms children’s lives by providing expressive mental health therapy. Furthermore, Steve likes the fact that he can control the temperature of the heating panels in several of their infrequently used guest bedrooms and bathrooms, saving energy and lowering their heating bill.ĭucoterra’s SolaRay infrared heating panels are providing sun-like warmth and clean, silent, allergen-free heat for the children’s therapy facility.
And, both are looking forward to the ductless system keeping them cool in the summer. Sharon loves the way the panels are unobtrusive and barely visible as well as the gentle heating from Ducoterra’s panels. The result: a hybrid heating system using these two efficient heating technologies succeeded. The solution was a hybrid heating system using a ductless heat pump to heat and cool both the living room as well as the master bedroom, and Ducoterra’s Far Infrared Radiant Panels mounted on the ceiling of all the other rooms, including three guest bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a family room. As you can imagine this home presented the owners with a unique challenge for heating and cooling.

This home features a towering 20-foot-high wall of west facing living room windows with incredible water and mountain views. Sharon and Steve recently completed the remodel of their magnificent three-story Northwest Hood Canal waterfront home. They offer an extremely energy efficient heating and cooling solution while at the same. Our new SolaRay-D panels are competitively priced against more industrial looking products while maintaining the visually attractive design of our SolaRay II panels our residential customers have come to love.” Radiant heat panels offer many benefits to industrial applications. “Our customers have asked for a heating panel that could be easily installed in drop-in ceilings, and we listened” said Patrick Beebe-Sweet, CEO and Founder of Ducoterra. Additionally, SolaRay-D panels include wire mounting hangers for attachment above the plenum in drop-in ceilings for earthquake safety. The panel has two 10” 12 AWG leads for connecting to standard #12 power supply with wire-nut inside the attached connection box. Like the sun, these panels will create a warm environment for all people and objects within line of sight of the panel surface.Īs is shown in the pictures below, these panels have a 1” width compared to the ½” width of SolaRay II panels but use the same junction box attached to the back of the panel for connecting to electrical power. The SolaRay-D panels are designed to heat working spaces rapidly and efficiently by radiant heating. The MSRP for our 500W panel is $385 and the MSRP of our 750W panel is $405. (23 ¾” x 47 ¾” x 1.0″) panel available in 120V, 208V, 240V, and 277V models with either 500 watts or 750 watts of heating power. Unlike our SolaRay II panels, these cannot be surface mounted to a drywall ceiling or wall. Ducoterra’s SolaRay-D panels are specifically designed for drop-in or t-bar ceilings in offices, commercial buildings, or homes.
